Ausgrid Network Requirements for Granny
Flat Metering
If your property is located in Sydney's east, north, inner west, or south, you may fall under the Ausgrid distribution network. Ausgrid has specific rules for secondary dwellings.
Service and Installation Rules (ES&IR)
Any new connection must comply with the NSW Service and Installation Rules and specific Ausgrid requirements, which can dictate meter box placement and mains capacity.
Application for connection
A proposed new or altered connection may require information to be submitted to Ausgrid, including details of the site and expected demand. The required pathway and response depend on the property, existing connection and proposed metering arrangement.
Level 2 ASP involvement
Some work involving an Ausgrid connection point can require an appropriately authorised Level 2 ASP. We can assess the likely scope and provide or facilitate in-house Level 2 work where the applicable authorisations and site requirements allow.
